Abstract

For producers in Sinaloa, it has not been easy to maintain the profitability of planting white corn, since the Federal Government has postponed economic support measures. However, one strength is that this type of corn is the main food of Mexicans, which is why they have the largest production worldwide. The demand for corn grows by at least 1 million tons annually in the country, while the supply is restricted worldwide as a consequence of its use to produce ethanol. For this reason, farmers in the State of Sinaloa have been convinced to plant yellow corn as a development option, but they still do not have the necessary economic support.
