This paper presents the perspectives on the use of nanotechnology in the development of pesticides, its technological advantages over current formulations and its potential use in sustainable rural development schemes. Some terms used in nanotechnology are defined and a review is made of research and companies involved in the development of micro and nanoencapsulated pesticides.
