Identity and organizational commitment in service sector companies in the state of Sinaloa, Mexico - a correlational analysis

The relationship between identity and organizational commitment is studied in its affective, normative and continuity dimensions in small and medium-sized organizations in the service sector of the state of Sinaloa, Mexico. Using a quantitative approach with correlational and cluster analysis, a survey was applied to 147 workers from 12 service companies. The findings show that there is a direct relationship between identity and organizational commitment in its three dimensions; however, the affective dimension is the one that has the greatest strength in said relationship. The cluster analysis was carried out by segmenting the sample into two groups, calling them "more identity and commitment" and "less identity and commitment", finding through the "t" test, that the group that shows the greatest relationship between identity and organizational commitment, are those who are older, older and have a higher educational level; Thus, it is also possible to determine that the variables age, seniority and schooling are good predictors of the relationship between identity and organizational commitment in said sector.
