This research and technological development work aims at the design and construction of a control unit with wireless and wired network communication capabilities, in order to develop a powerful, easy-to-use, flexible and low-cost process control unit, through which it is possible to implement wireless and wired distributed control systems based on advanced network topologies such as star, tree and mesh, given the different communication technologies that are currently used in the field of industrial process automation and taking reference from the most innovative and promising advantages of advanced technologies available in the international market.
The system includes the development of a two-layer communication driver, which was developed under the ATmega 328 microcontroller platform with Arduino bootloader and the upper layer in the LabVIEW development environment, in order to facilitate the user's development of the control application and to make the communication tasks between the control units and the supervision room completely transparent to the user's program.
