Abstract

Sustainability has been addressed from the economic, social, cultural and environmental spheres and its study has gone beyond the dimensions and mechanisms that have been developed, which has involved various agents to establish ties of cooperation and which are configured as social networks.

The objective of this work is to analyze the issue of cooperation and the formation of peasant organizations as a key element for the realization of sustainable local development projects, oriented to reforestation and soil recovery, illustrating with the case of a triple S -Society of Social Solidarity-, in the town of Zapotitlán Lagunas in the State of Oaxaca. The positive effects that derive from it are reforestation in the area, soil recovery, consolidation of social relations and job creation, therefore, thinking and acting locally is a condition to positively impact the environment and adding to this a social and economic vision allows contributing to sustainability.
