Abstract

The objective of this research is to present the viability of a Milk Product System under a Sustainability Model operating successfully in the North of Mexico since 2008 in Cd. Delicias, Chih. Where in a dairy farm with a capacity of more than 8 thousand Holstein cows in production and a Bio Digester, methane gas can be generated for the alternative production of clean electric energy and that could have an impact on obtaining carbon credits, rational water management with a high impact on the water footprint for milk production; under a scheme of Biosolids and reuse of treated water for cleaning activities and in the irrigation of agricultural lands, compost creation, and environmental conservation, generating profits and jobs in its surroundings. With this business model, we are currently participating as a finalist for the 2011 National Agri-Food Award.
