Abstract

In recent years, information and communication technologies are present in all sectors of our lives and the food and beverage sector is no exception, so a diagnosis was made in this area in small and medium-sized companies in the city of San Luis Potosí in the areas for the management and dissemination of their services, since they are currently at a disadvantage compared to large restaurant chains that have mobile applications, web pages among other applications. The research design that was applied is descriptive. The population of the object of study was taken as 32 MiPyMEs of the food and beverage sector in the city of San Luis Potosí affiliated with the National Chamber of the restaurant and seasoned food industry (Canirac). The variables that were taken into consideration are: Use of computer equipment, ICT Specialists, Access and use of the Internet, Social Media, Electronic Commerce. The study found that most SMEs in the restaurant sector use the social network Facebook as a means of disseminating services and promotions; however, they do not use the full potential that the social tool provides them, due to ignorance and lack of preparation to be able to interact better with their clients and suppliers. In addition, most of the sample has the need to advertise themselves electronically, through mobile phone applications.
