Abstract

One might think that by definition migrants work in the least profitable and least socially mobile job niches. However, a large group of migrants in different economically developed countries have successfully started businesses of various kinds and sizes. This is why the entrepreneurial spirit of migrants is a topic that has received increasing attention in recent years. Compared to other groups of immigrants in the United States, Mexicans show low rates of entrepreneurial activity. The objective of this paper is to make, through a general bibliographic review and official statistical data, a preliminary analysis of Mexican migrant entrepreneurship in the United States, which has been growing in importance in recent years.
