Narrative on the impact of the work of the Academic Research Bodies

Abstract

This qualitative research, employing a narrative method, aims to understand the perceptions of being part of the academic bodies (CAS) recognized by PRODEP at the Sinaloa Normal School (ENS). To achieve this, it explores the contribution of the professional profile of its members and collaborators, the influence of the CAS on their personal and professional lives, and their contribution to the training of student teachers. Through interviews, focus groups, and a Google Form, the narratives were collected. The main findings were: on a personal level, their teaching practice has improved; they expressed satisfaction from ongoing professional development and training; they conduct research for enjoyment; and they develop close relationships with other CAS members. On a professional level, they learn to work collaboratively, consolidate their skills in developing educational projects and scientific research, and develop the competencies required for the teacher training program. They agree that the impact of the CAS (Continuing Education Support Teams) on initial teacher training is limited compared to the teaching population, as few trainers are involved in research. One of the most significant findings was the concern among the research participants that the fact that its members are due to retire in approximately the next five years represents a risk that could lead to the end of the CAS's work if a generational replacement is not planned now.
