Institutional evaluation and accreditation of the 2025 Social Economy Node at TecNM/Technological Institute of Los Mochis, Ahome campus

Abstract

Global economies produce changes in The Social and Solidarity Economy Promotion Nodes (NODESS) are collaborative alliances established to strengthen territorial ecosystems and address collective needs through coordinated actions among academic institutions, government agencies, and social organizations. As a strategy promoted by the National Institute of Social Economy (INAES), NODESS fosters interinstitutional collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning to support local development.

This study examines the activities carried out by the Mochis Social Economy Node of the National Technological Institute of Mexico (TecNM) in Villa de Ahome, Sinaloa, Mexico, a rural community where agriculture represents the primary economic activity. The project seeks to contribute to local economic development by supporting agricultural initiatives through business model training, the implementation of sustainable irrigation systems combined with artisanal fertilization practices, and the monitoring of crop performance.

The research is aligned with the objectives of Mexico’s Social Economy Promotion Program, particularly those related to strengthening production, consumption, savings, and financing practices within local communities. Additionally, it contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 8 of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, which promotes sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth.

A qualitative research approach was adopted, supported by literature review and field observation. The study follows agricultural projects developed within the Sustainable Agricultural Innovation Engineering program, analyzing their implementation processes, challenges, and outcomes. The findings highlight the role of NODESS in identifying development opportunities, leveraging institutional expertise, strengthening local public policy initiatives, and promoting sustainable economic practices in rural communities.
